Oscar 2014 - I premi

Ci siamo arrivati. Dopo i Razzie Awards ecco, finalmente, la consegna delle statuette più ambite del mondo del cinema: il vecchio (86 anni) zio Oscar.

Quest'anno c'era un motivo in più per seguire con interesse la serata della premiazione. Forte dei premi raccolti ai Goldne Globe ed ai Bafta, in Italia, l'aspettativa era grande per la candidatura de La Grande Bellezza come miglior film straniero. Contro la pellicola di Sorrentino, con protagonista Tony Servillo, c'erano altre ottime pellicole provenienti da ogni parte del mondo. Molto temuto era il belga Alabama Monroe - Una storia d'amore (The Broken Circle Breakdown) di Felix Van Groeningen, ma alla fine... Ebbene sì, sicuramente già lo saprete, l'italica pellicola ha portato a casa il premio. A quindi anni di distanza dalla camminata sulle sedie del Dorothy Chandler Pavilion di Los Angeles, dall'urlo di Sofia Loren "Robertooooo!!!!", un altro regista italiano ha vinto l'Oscar. Congratulazioni.



Ma come è anfata per gli altri. Alfonso Cuaron si accapparrato la statuetta per la miglior regia ed una marea di premi tecnici, per un totale di 7 zii dorati. Fa specie che un film così silenzioso abbia ottenuto la vittoria nelle categorie Miglior sonoro e Miglior montaggio sonoro, sicuramente meritate ma fa sorridere.
Miglior film 12 anni schiavo, per il quale l'attrice kenyota Lupita Nyong'o ha vinto l'Oscar come Miglior attrice non protagonista, di Steve McQueen, tratto dalla biografia sulla vita vera e dolorosa di Salomon Northup. Produttore e protagonista del film: Brad Pitt, che è salito sul palco a ritirare la statuetta.
Miglior attore, dopo una vita di commediole ridicole ed un cameo ne Il lupo di Wall Street, a Matthew McConaughey. Chi l'avrebbe mai detto? Certo era che neanche quest'anno avrebbe vinto Leonardo Di Caprio, con l'interpretazione da protagonista, esaltata, ma molto al di sotto di altre sue ultime, proprio ne The Wolf of Wall Street.
Miglir Attrice Protagonista Cate Blanchett che porta un premio al film di Woody Allen Blue Jasmine, dopo tutte le strumentali polemice di Gennaio. Sconfitta ancora Amy Adams. L'attrice affonda con tutto il film American Hustle, film con molte candidature che non porta a casa alcun premio.
Curiosa la vittoria di Jared Leto. Miglior Attore Non Protagonista proprio in Dallas Buyers Club con Matthew McConaughey.
Miglior sceneggiatura non originale a John Ridley per 12 anni schiavo e Miglior sceneggiatura originale a Spike Jonze per Lei (film basato sulla voce di Scarlett Johansson) che batte sul filo di lana il bel lavoro di Woody Allen con Blue Jasmine.



Come, quasi, ogni anno (negli ultimi 12 anni se ne è accaparrati 8) la Disney si porta a casa il premio come Miglior Film d'Animazione. Quest'anno tocca a Frozen, che aveva ben deboli avversari se non Kaze Tachinu (Si alza il vento), intimo e, forse, ultimo film del grande Hayao Miyazaki.
Forzen porta a casa anche il premio per la Miglior Canzone Let it Go di Kristen Anderson Lope e Robert Lopez.

Midnight in Paris

Inez, di ricca famiglia, ed il suo fidanzato Gil, scrittore di copioni televisivi che sta tentando di scrivere un suo romanzo, sono in vacanza a Parigi in visita ai genitori di lei, appena trasferitisi per lavoro.  La vacanza diventa anche mezzo per Gil per distrarsi e per trovare l'ispirazione per completare il suo romanzo, anche se ogni giorno deve lottare contro il discredito e gli scoraggiamenti riversatigli addosso dalla sua fidanzata e da tutti quelli che incontra.
Ma una notte, a mezzanotte, sperso per le strade di Parigi, sale su un taxi d'epoca e si ritrova catapultato nella capitale parigina degli anni '20 del secolo scorso. Nella notte parigina incontrerà i celebri personaggi che ha sempre ammirato come Francis Scott Fitzgerald in compagnia di Zelda, Gertrude Stein, Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Thomas Stearns Eliot, Luis Buñuel, il torero Juan Belmonte, Man Ray, Cole Porter, ma su tutti  Ernest Hemingway con il quale stringerà una strana amicizia e dal quale riceverà preziosi consigli. Rimarrà, inoltre, incantato e folgorato da Adriana, l'amante di Picasso.

Musiche parigini riecheggianti, in un classico stile Alleniano. Immagini cariche di colore e di atmosfera. Fotografia di alto livello ed una regia fluida ed ammiccante. Scenografie ricche e dettagliate, così come i costumi. 
Attori bravi, in forma, odiosi allo stesso tempo. Protagonista dell'onirico viaggio  di Woody è un Owen Wilson in buona forma, dopo anni di limbo, che riesca a fare buona figura nonostante la parte di uno scrittore dall'aria un po' troppo smarrita e dal doppiatore eccessivamente mellifluo. Al suo fianco c'è un'altrettanto doppiata male Rachel McAdams, un odiosamente perfettino Michael Sheen, un ammirevole Tom "Loki" Hiddleston è Francis Scott Fitzgerald, granitico l'Hemingway di Carey Stoll, piacevole ed intrigante il Dalì dipinto da Adrien Brody. Il cast femminile si distingue per la presenza di Marion Cotillard, Adriana, e per il cameo di Kathy Bates nei panni di Gertrude Stein. Palesemente mal doppiato, tanto da rendere ancora più antipatica la ex premier dame,  il ruolo di guida turistica, alla fin fine gentile, affidato a Carla Burni.
Nel film si dice che Parigi sia molto più bella con la pioggia. Da turista è meglio il sole, od una pioggerella leggera, fidatevi.

Un film sui tempi migliori e sui sogni, velato di ironia, lento, ma piacevole. La parte ambientata negli anni '20 è veramente bene scritta e coinvolgente, mentre quella ai giorni nostri è fin troppo cinica e disfattista. Certo i coprotagonisti dei tempi contemporanei, a parte i genitori di Inez, vengono sacrificati e spariscono dopo poco, ma alla fine non se ne sente la mancanza.
Le belle atmosfere e la delicata narrazione ne fanno un film, un po' gigione, degno di essere visto. Tutto sempre che riusciate a superare l'ostacolo del mellifluo doppiaggio del protagonista.

Un occhio di riguardo lo darei a The Help, in uscita a breve anche in Italia, con le sue 4 nomination. Affascinanti le 5 candidature per il remake di Millennium e quella a Miglior Attore Protagonista per George Clooney in sfida con Brad Pitt e Gary Oldman.
