Golden Globes 2020 - I premi

E via! Proprio durante le consultazioni per l'assegnazione dei premi Oscar di febbraio ecco che vengono assegnati i Golden Globes del 2020.

Ed è successo un po' di tutto in questa serata particolare. Tom Hanks, oltre a ricevere il premio alla carriera cinematografica, è diventato un meme, per le facce in cui si è esibito durante il monologo iniziale, piacevolmente non politicamente corretto, del presentatore della serata Ricky Gervais. Per le serie Tv, lo stesso premio è andato ad Ellen Degeners.

Iniziamo ad esplorare i premi. 

Quentin Tarantino ha portato a casa la una bella tripletta per C’era una volta a… Hollywood: sceneggiatore, miglior film - commedia o musical e miglior attore non protagonista (Brad Pitt).

Il miglior film drammatico è stato 1917 e il suo regista ha portato a casa il premio per la regia.

Joaquin Phoenix ha sbaragliato la concorrenza per il globo del miglior attore protagonista come ha fatto Taron Egerton con la sua interpretazione in Rocketman, un anno dopo Rami Malek nel film sui Queen. Sir Elthon John è stato premiato per la canzone (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again nel film a lui dedicato.

Tra le donne hanno avuto la meglio una rediviva Renée Zellweger, per essere stata Judy Garland, e Laura Dern per Marriage story come non protagonista.

Per le serie tv le migliori sono state Succession e Fleabag. Mentre la miniserie è stata Chernobyl. Gli attori sono stati Russell Crowe e Ramy Youssef, che con la sua prova in Ramy ha battuto la concorrenza di Michael Douglas.
Stellan Skarsgård e Patricia Arquette sono altri vincitori avvezzi a portare a casa premi e così hanno fatto i questa serata particolare.

Insomma. Non è detto che gli Oscar seguiranno i suggerimenti dei giornalisti del Globes, ma qualche indicazione su quello che la critica ha scelto come migliori film del 2019.

Golden Globes 2020 - Le nominations

Scrivo poco, ma ci sono appuntamenti che non si possono mancare e che sono diventati di famiglia. Anche quest’anno, come sempre in quel di dicembre, sono state rese note le nomination per i Golden Globes che verranno assegnati il 5 gennaio 2020.

Vediamo cosa è successo sia al cinema che in tv.

Premetto che: la maggior parte dei prodotti cinetelevisivi qui citati non li ho visti. La mia vuole essere una panoramica sulle scelte dei giurati e su quanto emerso dalla serata.

Cinema

Il primo dato è che Il Traditore, film italiano, non è riuscito ad entrare nella cinquina dei migliori film stranieri. E’ nella lista dei possibili vincitori Parasite, che si candida anche come miglior sceneggiatura e miglior regista.

Netflix, nonostante sia famoso per le sue serie televisive, non si smentisce neanche sotto il profilo cinematografico. Con Storia di un Matrimonio porta a casa sei nomination (film drammatico, sceneggiatura, colonna sonora e per i migliori attori drammatici, Adam Driver e Scarlett Johansson) e cinque con Irishman (film drammatico, sceneggiatura e regia su tutti).

Il cinecomic dell’anno porta a casa tre importanti nomination: miglior regia, miglior film drammatico e miglior attore in un film drammatico. Non avendolo visto, questa indicazione supporta la tesi di tanti sceneggiatori di fumetti: è bravo lui, è un buon film, ma non ha una sceneggiatura consistente. Mi riserverò di dare un mio parere quando uscirà in home video (verso febbraio, dicono).

Curiosa la scelta di Disney di proporre in gara il Re Leone come film di animazione e non come un film dal vivo. Si trovano concordi con quello che ho sempre sostenuto: non è un film dal vivo, ma un film d’animazione digitale di alto livello tecnico. In questa categoria è scontro fratricida nella casa del topo dalle grandi orecchie dato che vede, anche, la presenza di Frozen 2 e Toy Story 4. Poche speranze per gli altri contendenti.

Eterogenea la categoria che raggruppa i musical e le commedie. Passiamo da Once Upon a Time in Hollywood per arrivare a Rocketman. Potrebbe vincere chiunque. Anche perché il tanto contestato film di Quentin Tarantino ha, comunque, ottenuto cinque nomination tra le quali quelle per miglior regista e sceneggiatore.

Tra le canzoni è curiosa vedere la traccia portante di Frozen 2, film uscito da poco, contrapporsi con il brano di Sir Elthon John.

Tra le donne c’è vera battaglia in tutte le categorie. Giusto per citare le più famose, tra le protagoniste, avremo: Cate Blanchett Vs Emma Thompson per le commedie/musical e un poker interessante tra le protagoniste dei film drammatici Scarlett Johansson Vs Saoirse Ronan Vs Charlize Theron Vs una rediviva Renee Zellweger.

Non saranno da meno le non protagoniste, dove è presente una cinquina con dei nomi che offrono solo l’imbarazzo della scelta: Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Laura Dern, Jennifer Lopez e Margot Robbie.

Curiosità: torna a farsi sentire la voce di Eddie Murphy che viene candidato come miglior attore in un film musical o commedia. Speriamo si meriti il premio. Dopo tanto silenzio mi farebbe piacere sapere che è tornato in forma.

Serie Tv

Apple sbarca in streaming e si prende la prima serie di nomination con The Morning Show. Entra nella cinquina delle serie drammatiche e porta Jennifer Aniston e Reese Witherspoon a contendersi la statuetta come miglior attrice drammatica.

Chernobyl fa il pieno di nomination in tante categorie, ma fanno rumore le assenze di nomination per Stranger Things, Watchmen e The Boys (giusto per citarne una per rete) e si avverte stranezza per la sola candidatura di Kit Harrington per l’interpretazione del suo Jon Snow nell’ottava stagione di  Games of Thrones. Segno che l’ultima e conclusiva stagione non è stata all’altezza delle precedenti.

Meryl Streep è stata candidata per la sua partecipazione a Big Little Lies. E’ fremente l’attesa per sapere se riuscirà a vincere o meno.

Amazon conferma il successo costante de The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel che se la dovrà vedere con Flebag nella sua categoria.

Insomma tanta carne al fuoco in tutte le categorie di entrambi i media. Appuntamento per il 5 gennaio 2020 per saper chi ha vinto cosa.

Golden Globes 2018 - Total black edition

Sembrava di andare ad un evento drammatico. Invece, si stava partecipando alla premiazione dei Golden Globes. Ieri sera era tutti vestiti di nero, per dimostrare la loro partecipazione alla campagna #metoo (che da difesa delle donne si sta trasformando in una richiesta di parità economica tra star al maschile e quelle al femminile), per tre ore, ad ascoltare discorsi di ringraziamento noiosi (impuntati contro Weinstein, che per una volta ha soffiato il post a Trump). Uniche note guizzanti ed incisivi? Gli interventi di Oprah Winfrey e Julia Roberts. Ovviamente, il tenore della serata, ha spostato gli equilibri dei meriti in gioco. Sia nella categoria Tv che Cinema sono emerse delle sorprese che, forse, non del tutto sono dovute al merito artistico dei premiati.

La vittoria di The Handmaid’s Tale, tra le serie, è un indicatore di questa direzione, così come lo per i film quella di Lady Bird. The Handmaid’s Tale si porta a casa la statuetta per la Miglior attrice di una serie drammatica, Elisabeth Moss. Big Little Lies, HBO, vince come serie comica e Julia Roberts, con il suo ruolo, le regala anche quella di Miglior attrice di una miniserie e Laura Dern quella di  Miglior attrice non protagonista di una miniserie . Per la serie comica è tutto in casa di The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,  Rachel Brosnahan che fanno l'accoppiata come nei casi precedenti.
Ewan McGregor fa sua la statuetta di Miglior Attore di una serie TV, con Fargo, e Alexander Skarsgård quella di Miglior Attore non Protagonista di una serie TV,  sempre per Big Little Lies.

Al cinema è più o meno successo quello che è accaduto in tv, ma partendo con ordine.
Anche se dai promo che circolano in questi giorni non si direbbe I Tre Manifesti è un film drammatico e si porta a casa il premio nella sua categoria, oltre a quello di Frances McDormand (Desperate Housewife) come miglior attrice, Sam Rockwell come Miglior attore non Protagonista e Martin McDonagh per la migliore sceneggiatura (gli sfugge quella di miglior regista). Restano al palo Dunkirk e La forma dell'acqua. Gary Oldman, nella stessa categoria, con il ruolo in Darkest Hour, stacca Daniel Day-Lewis (al suo ultimo ruolo prima del ritiro), Tom Hanks e, un redivivo, Denzel Washington.
Di Lady Bird Miglior Commedia abbiamo detto, ora diciamo di Saoirse Ronan Miglior attrice di Commedia con Lady Bird.
Dato il nulla qualitativo con cui concorreva, Coco, della Disney Pixar, vince a mani basse come miglior film di animazione )e lo farà anche agli Oscar.
Altro premio importante, per la Miglior Regia, se lo aggiudica, come doveva essere, Guillermo del Toro per The Shape of Water, che se la giocava con Christopher Nolan, Ridley Scott e Steven Spielberg. L'altro premio per il film di del Toro è quello per la Migliore colonna sonora a Alexandre Desplat.
Colpo di coda di The Greatest Showman che si porta a casa, con This is me, il premio per la migliore canzone.

Golden Globes 2018 - Le nomination

Ieri, sì lo so che sono in ritardo, sono state comunicate le nominations per i Golden Globes che verranno assegnati nel 2018.

Come sono andate? Beh, ci sono un po' di sorprese, che coinvolgono anche artisti italiani.

“Call me by your name” di Luca Guadagnino ottiene tre candidature (miglior film drammatico, miglior interprete maschile protagonista e non protagonista, con Timothée Chalamet e Armie Hammer), Jude Law è stato candidato come la sua interpretazione in "The Young Pope" di Sorrentino e Helen Mirren per "The Leasure Seeker" di Paolo Virzì. 

Tra le candidature conquistate tra le produzioni cinematografiche, sette nominations sono andate a "The shape of water" di Guillermo del Toro, sei a "The post" di Steven Spielberg, tre a "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missuori". Desta molta curiosità la candidatura per Christopher Plummer, in “All the Money in the World”, così rapida ed inaspettata per via dei tempi di produzione del film di Ridley Scott, in cui ha sostituito Kevin Spacey.

Le serie tv mostrano qualche curiosità, ma dominano ancora "Stranger Things", "The Games of Thrones", "The Crown" e "The Handmade's Tale". Se volete scoprire i nomi del cinema che hanno ottenuto nominations per le loro prestazioni sul piccolo schermo: non avete che da scorrere il post fino in fondo.
